2022 Summer Training Opportunities

Cadet Summer Training information for 2022 is now live on the official Cadets and Junior Canadian Rangers (CJCR) website!

Summer Training this year will be a bit different compared to pre-covid due to the cadet program rescope. Preliminary information is available including information regarding courses that are being offered. Please note that certain courses will be offered fully in-person or through a hybrid method.

Please note that each course has its own prerequisites, please make sure that you are eligible before applying.

For a quick overview, if you are a:

Level 1 Cadet –> You will be taking part in the Cadet Activity Program Year 1 (CAP-1). This will be a 5-day in-person experience where you’ll get to interact with cadets around the area between the ages of 12-13 years old. This will be a day experience and will take place in Newmarket. Other locations can be applied to upon request; however, this will be based on space availability. In addition, other locations may offer an overnight experience, please refer to the “CAP Opportunity Dates” section in the Summer Training Overview Guide for details.  Please note that you are responsible for arranging transportation to and from the location.

Level 2 Cadet –> You will be taking part in the Cadet Activity Program Year 2 (CAP-2). This will be a 12-day in-person experience where you’ll get to interact with cadets around the area between the ages of 13-14 years old. This will be a day experience and will take place in Newmarket. Other locations can be applied to upon request; however, this will be based on space availability. In addition, other locations may offer an overnight experience, please refer to the “CAP Opportunity Dates” section in the Summer Training Overview Guide for details. Please note that you are responsible for arranging transportation to and from the location.

Level 3+ Cadet –> You are eligible to apply to courses at a Cadet Training Center (CTC). Please review the prerequisites for the courses that you may be interested in. Please note that you are allowed to apply to courses that are listed under the “Common Course” and “Air Cadet Course” sections.

Staff cadet opportunities are also available to cadets who are 16 years old and older. You may apply for a staff cadet position at CAP and/or CTC. If you want to apply for staff to both CAP and CTC, please make sure that the dates do not overlap.
